As part of its sponsorship package, eToro will gain visibility through a range of marketing channels that will see it provide bibs to thousands of players via the Powerplay Netball leagues. The Israeli trading network has also obtained access to a range of joint initiatives to promote its brand across football pitches up and down the UK.
eToro and Powerleague will run events for participants, tapping into local communities behind the teams, offering free educational content to 5-a-side football fans. The Aim-listed company, which generates revenue through charging for the use of its pitches and sponsorship deals, said this initiative will be run via the eToro Academy.
Founded in 1987 in Paisley, Scotland, Powerleague is an operator of small-sided football artificial pitches with 45 centres across Europe. The companys events attract over 500,000 visitors each month as the 5-a-side football is one of the fastest growing forms of the game. The firm, which says there is scope for up to a further 100 sites to be developed across the UK, has sponsorship deals with Lucozade, Xbox and Nike.
Dan Moczulski, UK Managing Director at eToro commented: “eToro is powered by the community, therefore, we wanted to give something back to fellow sports lovers across the UK. This partnership demonstrates our commitment to grassroots UK sport but also provides Powerleague players with the opportunity to learn more about the power of investing, and to grow their wealth. We will be working with the Powerleague to make the financial markets more accessible to participants, bringing them closer to the action and educating them on investing.”
Dom Reed, Head of Commercial at Powerleague added: “Partnering with eToro made complete sense for our brand. eToro is all about community and empowering others – we believe in this, and this sense of togetherness through sport has helped bring joy to thousands of people across the UK. Were proud to have eToro on board and we look forward to working with them to help bring financial education to more people.”
eToro has been active in the Europe soccer market as they have previously signed deals with several top leagues. The broker already bags Premier League‘s multi-club deals with Arsenal Football Club, Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Southampton. The Israeli firm, which is gearing up for an eye-catching $10 billion IPO, is also one of European football’s biggest sponsors. Specifically, it has built a strong portfolio of top tier clubs including Bundesliga clubs RB Leipzig, FC Cologne, FC Union Berlin, VfL Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt.
